I chose a private room at Ukelele, and liked it well enough to come back two more times during my South American stint. Nice staff, good location, and it even had a cat on the property, Milton, that...

• From the airport: You can get a taxi directly from the airport, but it will cost you much more than the Shutlle Bus. You take the Shuttle outside the terminal, and it will leave you in Ukelele.• From bus terminal Tres Cruces: The most safe way is to get a taxi, it will cost around $100 (uruguayan peso). If you want to save some money, you can get the CA1 Bus, that departs from outside the terminal, and you have to get down in "Plaza Cagancha". Once there, you have to walk by Gutierrez Ruiz to the south. 400 mts and you will get to Maldonado Street, in which you have to turn left, and 50 mts from there, you get to Ukelele!
