Policies

If you need to cancel your reservation we require a 7 day advance notice of your arrival date. If you fail to show up on the arrival date, we will charge your card for the total reservation amount. As well, you will be required to do the Portland equivalent of the "cinnamon challenge" and drink 8 shots of espresso when/if you arrive (just kidding of course!). Any changes to bookings must be approved by a Travelers' House staff member. If you arrive a day late without informing us via email or phone, your reservation was probably cancelled but we will try and find you a bed. We have a NO refund policy. If you arrive and pay for three nights and decide that you need to leave early you will not be issued a refund. If you pay a phone deposit and cancel your reservation you will not be issued a refund.

The comfort, safety and security of our guests is of paramount importance to us. Any guest(s) who, in the opinion of our staff, compromise the comfort, safety or security of other guests, staff or local residents will be requested to leave the premises and will not be offered a refund. Guests are expected to respect other guests, staff, local residents and property. We are not your average hostel in Portland.
-Engage in our community. Introduce yourself around — Travelers’ House is a great place to meet people.
-Clean up after yourself, and remember to take your shoes off. Recycle. Compost. Help conserve energy (turn off lights) and water.
-We have 24hr video surveillance in all communal areas (reception, kitchen, living rooms, etc.)
-Follow quiet hours of 10pm-8am with integrity. Look, this is simple and it is still the most violated guideline of the Travelers’ House community. From 10pm to 8am, people are generally using our facilities to sleep. We don’t have a curfew for guests and we would like to keep it that way.
-We really shouldn't have to say this, but no sex in the dorm room - yes, your roommates can hear you.
-We shouldn't have to say this either, but don’t steal anything.
-No smoking. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on Travelers’ House property. Please enjoy your tobacco products on the sidewalk.
-We are not a party hostel. If we wake up to you moaning and vomiting in our toilet from your night out start packing your bags.
