Jack Sheremetoff, a Lonely Planet recommended guide, welcomes you to stay in his Baikaler Hostel (he'd rather call it a '3 guest room apartment') in the epicenter of Irkutsk (corner of Lenin and Karl Marks streets).Rated as Our Pick by Lonely Planet (Trans-Siberian Railway, 3rd edition, p216)!The location of the hostel is unbeatably central and ultimately convenient. You can walk everywhere you need within minutes: ATM (3 min), pizza or restaurant (5 15 min), Art Museum and supermarket (15 min), Angara river (15 min)The hostel has all facilities, good shower, clean and roomy. All the rooms are separated, have comfortable beds and well lit.There are 3 rooms for guests:LONG rooms is a 6 bed mixed dorm (3 bunk beds), GREEN room is a 2 bed twin and BALCONY room is a 6 beds mixed dorm (3 bunk beds).There 2 toilets and 1 showerToilet and shower are shared!IMPORTANT NOTE: Fast and smooth visa registration is arranged upon request (add 400 Rub per visa).Tours to lake Baikal, transfers to Listvyanka or Olkhon island and other destinations can be arranged. Suggestions on how and where to go in Irkutsk or lake Baikal. Also, you are welcome to join our ongoing tours (if any)Welcome to Baikaler Hostel!Please keep in mind that all trains in Russia run on Moscow time (Irkutsk time = Moscow time + 5hr). So if you train ticket says: arrival time is 3 am that in fact means 8am local time.

Directions

From the train station (zeleznodorozny vokzal):A) Come out of the train station. Turn right and walk straight 300m, then you'll see the bridge. Walk over the bridge, go straight along the Stepan Razin street (keep walking on the right side!), follow the tram tracks, which will turn left and then turn right on the cornet of Lenin and Gorky street. You are almost there! Cross Lenin street. You will see the hostel building (see its photo below). Do do expect to see any kind of sign on front side of the building! Walk to the back side of the building and find yellow 'baikaler' sign.B) Take a tram (any #) and get off at the 4th stop (in about 7 min). Alternatively, take a bus #70, or minibus #64, 20 and get off at the Art Museum / Khudozestvenny Muzei.Cross the Lenin street, you will see the blue building with NOKIA sign in front of you. This is the building #7. To your right there will be a long coral-violet building # 9 with signs 'OPTIKA', Plane Ticket Agency, VTB24 Bank, walk in its yard, continue walking along the building - our entrance is the 4th from the right corner of the building. The apartment is on the 3rd floor !
