It's location on the west coast makes for spectacular sunsets and gives you an ideal base for exploring the beautiful Isle of Skye.The rural location (if you do not have a car please read the public transport section of the directions) means you are surrounded by unspoiled natural beauty. There is a great beach within walking distance with regular sightings of whales, dolphins and basking sharks as well as Skye's famous eagles!The hostel is only a five-minute walk from the local hotel which serves meals and has a cosy bar, very popular both with locals and visitors. The nearest shop is in Carbost and it closes at 17:45. The world famous Talisker distillery is less than 3 miles from the hostel and well worth a visit. Portree, the capital of the Island is only 25 minutes away by car or local bus.We have 40 bunk beds in rooms ranging from 2 bedded private bunk rooms to a 10 bed dorm and offer a very high standard of comfort and cleanliness. Please note that all beds available to book on line are bunks. This includes the 2 bedded private rooms.The Hostel has a well equipped self catering kitchen and a large garden area for recreation and barbecues. There is also a cool 'chill out' glass dome for guests to relax in. Skyewalker Hostel hosts regular Scottish folk music sessions and has instruments available for guests to use.It is also possible to book the whole place for special occasions such as birthdays, Munro completion parties, family get-togethers etc.Due to the communal nature of hostelling, we are unable to accept reservations from families or groups with children under the age of five however, we welcome guests with children of five years of age and over. We ask that all guests with children under the age of 12 book exclusive use of rooms (i.e. no children under 12 in shared dorms).Skyewalker Hostel...Scotland's best!

For guests using public transport:Please be aware that Skye has a limited bus service. The hostel has 3 buses a day Monday - Friday, only 1 bus on a Saturday and NO buses on a Sunday so Please check your journey plans and connections before booking!The Hostel is easy to get to by car. Once you reach Skye, simply get to Sligachan which lies roughly in the centre of Skye. From there take the A863 for 5 miles to the turn off for Carbost which takes you onto the B8009. Proceed through Carbost to Portnalong then take a left when you see our sign (bright green signs saying Skyewalker Hostel are situated at every junction from Sligichan).The local bus company is operated by MJM. *Important notice*:For guests using satelite navigation systems, often when satnav is programmed for the most direct route to Skye, it may take you via the ferry at Mallaig. If this is not your intention, you should navigate to the hostel via Kyle of Lochalsh.
